Project 365 Week ...Ummm. What week is it anyway???

That's right. As I type this to get the intro for my photos, I'm not even sure what week this is supposed to be. I won't actually know until I go to Sara's to link up with everyone else. I did take a picture every day this week. Finding the time to download them from my camera then add them to a post seemed like a daunting task. I need to get over it and just get it done. So....here I am and here we go.

Sunday - You might be a Redneck if you have a fuel pump and air horns on your pick up. This is my car of the week. Yep, I'm still taking these. There are several I need to get posted.

Monday - Got my hair did.

Tuesday - Beautiful sunrise on the way to work.

Wednesday - Today is "Yappy Hour" at Petco. This little diva doesn't play well with others, but she sure likes Chummly. It may look like she is whipping the tar out of him, but this is how she plays. lol

Thursday - Who told these guys that this was a good look?????

Friday - My hubby was tired of the problems he'd had with his motorcycle (which is a whole story in itself) so he traded up and got a brand spanking new Harley Street Glide. Here they are in the warehouse pulling it off the rack. Nice!

Saturday - Here's Chummly (this is the way my hubby spells it) riding in the truck. Not his favorite pastime, but at least he doesn't yack from the ride anymore.

That's my week. I can't believe how difficult it was to get the pictures loaded. My internet was hit and miss today. Ugh!!

Project 365, Week 14

Sunday - The last of the daffodils. They are rapidly fading and making way for other flowers.

Monday - A little "me" time with a color and cut. Time to lighten it up a little for the coming warmer temperatures. They are coming, right? The gal behind me? My stylist friend, L.

Tuesday - The clematis in my front flower bed. It's coming along nicely.

Wednesday - My car of the week. Found this 1964 Rambler on blocks. I like how even the hubs are painted to match the car. What a cruiser!

Thursday - The tree-lined lane still isn't busting out in green or flowers like I thought it would be by this time. I'll be going back in a couple weeks to check again, but this is what is looks like today.

Friday - We picked up our new pal, Chumley. Isn't he just the cutest?

Saturday - Grilled sirloin steak, roasted rosemary potatoes, and red wine. That's all the food groups...yes?

Welcome UBP 2011

Welcome to my photography blog and the Ultimate Blog Party 2011. This is my third year partying with the girls from 5MinutesforMoms. These gals really have it together. The best thing about joining the party? It gets me exposure....yes. But more than that, I meet the best people and make awesome new friends.

A little about me. I have been blogging since 2008. WOW! That just does not seem possible. My daily blog, This Day! has changed and transformed over that time...and so have I. I have learned so much about myself. God has used it as a tool to give me a different perspective. Because of that perspective, my interests have changed. My writing style has changed. It's been a challenging and joyous ride. And I'm excited to see where God will take this next. You can visit my daily blog, This Day! and read more about me.

My photography is also changing. This photography blog started out as a Project 365 challenge back in 2009. It is slowly morphing into a business endeavor where I am searching for my niche in that market. I even changed the blog name from ShutterClicks to TurningPoints Photography. Project 365, Week 13

Sunday - My pal, K, and I after running our second 4 miler. We're going to try to make this an every Sunday event. Anyone want to join us?

Monday - I ran across this Orange Chipotle Turkey Loin recipe that is excellent. I made orange flavored mashed sweet potatoes to go with it.

Tuesday - Remember when you would sit in class and wish you could be outside? This group did exactly that!

Wednesday -Flowers are everywhere. I love it!

Campus is blooming.

Thursday - Class night. I went back to the lined tree lane from a few weeks ago, but the trees aren't blooming. So I grabbed a picture of a passing freight train engine.

Friday - Oh the life of a student.

Saturday - My car of the week. The hubs and I were out running errands. It was raining. Then I saw it. The Superman emblem. On the rear quarter panel of a car. This car. ahaha I guess this guy thinks he's Superman.

Project 365, Week 12

Sunday - Our neighbor's cat. She visits regularly.

Monday - Tulips are breaking ground in my back yard. I love Spring.

Tuesday - My car of the week. These poor guys had a flat tire on a very busy street.

Wednesday - My pal K and I ran our first 4 miler around our town lake. This is what we looked when we finished.

Thursday - Tonight the photography class took a field trip. I took tons of pictures. This is one of my favorites. Statues of children praying.

Friday - One of the staff's sons came by the office with his mom and brother. They had been out playing. He looks like they had tons of fun.

Project 365, Week 11

Sunday - I had lunch with one of my dear friends, A. She was kind enough to let me take her picture. Portrait is this weeks photo class assignment.

Monday - Scalloped potatoes. Yep, they tasted as good as they look.

Tuesday - I found this old barn. My goal is to tell a story with the picture. What story do you see?

Wednesday - My car of the week. This 1968 Volkswagen Truck. You don't see very many of these.

Thursday - Daffodils! Aren't they gorgeous?

Friday - Deer at sunset. It's a good size herd. Gotta watch out for these guys when we're on the motorcycle.

Saturday - Here we are, the hubs and me, ready to head out on our first ride of the season. It was great. We put on 114 miles.

Project 365, Week 10

Sunday - A tasty sirloin tip roast. Delicious and plenty to get us through a couple more meals.

Monday - I was on the hunt for another action picture. I remembered that the baseball team was probably practicing. Sure enough. It was tough to get a photo where you could see the swing and the ball.

Tuesday - My car of the week. Sadly, it's only part of a car. lol. Seems like they left the rest of it out there, somewhere.

Wednesday - A beautiful sunrise.

Thursday - A tree lined lane. I'll come back to this spot as the seasons change. Won't this be lovely as the trees are budding, or changing into their fall colors?

Friday - Eyes in the sky.

Saturday - The last of that sirloin tip roast made into delicious tasty fajitas. Quick. Easy. Satisfying.

Project 365, Week 9

Sunday - The photography class assignment this week is natural lighting. I took this pic of our dining room.

Then I took this photo. I really like the softness of this picture. I'm going to play with this type of lighting more.

Monday - My car of the week. It's not exactly what I was looking for in uniqueness, but it will do.

Tuesday - Look! Do you see this? Spring flowers poking their green leaves through the ground.

Wednesday - This is my friend Andilee and we're wishing her well as she heads to Kingsville, TX.

Thursday - Here's another mark of Spring in our area. The local Dairy Queen opens.

Friday - My new photo assignment is action. I think this will do nicely. I love the movement of this horse and surrey.

Saturday - We took the grand-boy to Monster Truck Nationals. There were these crazy fellas on dirt bikes.

Project 365, Week 8

Sunday - Yesterday, I worked on my photo class assignment. Architecture. This morning I got up early to utilize early morning lighting. The sky was clear. The sunlight crested the horizon and provided beautiful light. What do you think? Which photo do you like better? You can go to my regular blog, This Day! and cast your vote.

Monday - Happy Valentine's Day! I made cupcakes for the office. I totally forgot to take a picture of them iced and decorated.

Tuesday - My car of the week. I saw this car in front of me and sped up to get the shot. Multicolored and patched. Yep. Another drive by shooting. Oh,m the haze? It's salt remnants on my window. Gotta get the truck washed. lol

Wednesday - Today is my daughter's birthday. She's 26. I love her smile. It's just a little windy, no?

Thursday - Can you see it? It's finally getting warm. 58 degrees today with the promise of near 70 tomorrow. I couldn't help but take a picture of it. I'm just so darn happy to see it!

Friday - Errands with the hubs. These are the types of places he likes to go.Yes, that's him walking towards the store.

Saturday - A sure sign of spring. Peepers at the local farm store. In my previous life when I was kidnapped by aliens, I raised chickens. And several other critters. Anyway. One spring Murray McMurray mailed peepers to me through the USPS. Truly. It was one of the coolest things ever.

Project 365, Week 7

Sunday - I made Orange Beef with broccoli and snow pea pods. It started out like this:

It was absolutely delicious. Not gonna lie. lol

Monday- Here's my car-of-the-week. I think this person should have paid their parking tickets, yes?

Tuesday - My hubby was ~~crying~~ ~~whining~~ mentioned sweetly that I hadn't made him an apple pie in a while. So this is what he got.

Wednesday - Snow! Again! Lots of it too. And baby, it was cold. See how bundled up those kids are? Brr.

Thursday - Faster than a speeding bullet, more powerful than a locomotive.

Friday - We attended a special event at our niece's school. Children are so precious at that age. Especially, the younger ones. You just never know what they're going to do in front of a crowd.

Saturday - Working on my next photo assignment. Rule of thirds with architecture as the theme. This is hard. I don't quite have a handle on taking pictures of buildings.

Project 365, Week 6

Sunday - The neighbor girl. Isn't she a cutie?

Monday - Car of the week. The driver must be a star. Maybe I can get her autograph. lol

Tuesday - The "shack." No, not the famous one. But I'm sure this shack has many stories to tell, too.

Wednesday - On my way to workout at the campus gym, it's snowing. Can you see the small flecks? Ok, it's not the snowmageddon everyone else is getting, but what you don't see is the temperature. 19 degrees. brrr.

Thursday - Gorgeous sunset. I've never seen a ray of sunlight like this one. (Yes, it's the same farm from last week's shot.)

Friday - The hubby working on his "do" list. Chopping a small tree out of our fence. We're working on the area where the raised garden bed will go. Don't want that area shaded!Besides if that little tree is allowed to grow, it will tear up our fence.

Saturday - Overnight, it snowed. Again! Twice in one week? Really? OK, I have to admit it. It is really pretty.

Project 365, Week 5

Day 23 - We finally bit the bullet and bought a home game system. We decided the Kinect would be fun and provide physical activity. I've already decided that I'm so not coordinated and won't be inviting anyone over to play until after I get a better handle on it.

Day 24 - A picture taken towards my neighbor's house. Can you see the snow flakes? Yes. It's snowing again.

Day 25 - My "car-of-the-week." This one has an odd paint scheme. Bubbles. Maybe they're advertising for a car wash or just likes "Mr. Bubbles."

Day 26 - The campus gym locker room. This is where I get changed so I can be tortured for over an hour.

Day 27 - Sunset on the way to photography class.

Day 28 - After dinner, the hubs and his sister are playing on the laptops while the grand-boy and niece play the new Kinect game. Well, in this picture, it looks like the grand-boy is playing and the niece is taking a break.

Day 29 -The hubs showing the grand-boy how to use a compass. As soon as it gets warm, they'll be out orienteering.

Project 365, Week 4

Day 16 - A long overdo task. Polishing my boots and shoes.

Day 17 - I made a delicious penne with white beans and spinach. This is the kind of mess I make when I cook.

Day 18 - I woke up with a very sore throat so on my way to work, I picked up some of this. Hoping it's just a sore throat and this stuff will lesson the symptoms.

Day 19 - My running/workout pal, Kari, and I are hitting the gym twice a week. These two guys? They're our personal trainers.

Day 20 - The Zicam didn't work for me. I was at the doctor's office first thing this morning. He put me on antibiotics. My sore throat turned into a severe sinus infection with fluid behind my ear drums. Yuck. (FYI. It's blurry on purpose.)

Day 21 - My food photo is creamed eggs with turkey sausage made for me by my wonderful hubby.

Day 22 -I don't have a funny vehicle picture this week. Believe me, I searched. But I did find this river house built around an AirStream. Not sure how they hoisted it to that height. Any ideas?

Day 9 - My favorite spot to visit.

Day 10 - Ugh! More snow.

Day 11 -Steak and shrimp fajitas. Yum! (Ha! Gotta have at least one food photo.)

Day 12 - Crazy runners. Shorts? It's too stinkin cold for that.

Day 13 - You might be a redneck if you keep your hood closed with a tie-down.

Day 14 - Getting the salt and cinders washed off the car. It was a hot mess.

Day 15 - New running shoes. Can you see the sale price? 59.97? They were 50% off that! Score!

Project 365, Week 2

This week just flew by as they all seem to do these days.

Day 2 - Left over turkey breast. Now they are frozen, vacuum sealed, and in the freezer waiting to be made into Mexican Soup...or something.

Day 3 - A minivan completely wrapped in aluminum foil. Not even kidding. Who does that to someone? I took several photos from many angles. Laughing the whole time.

Day 4 - This is my go to meal. If I have some leftover meat in the fridge, I'll add shredded carrots, black beans, frozen corn, cooked rice....whatever is available. Heat it up in a skillet. Mix it all together with some taco seasoning. Throw it in a warm tortilla. Top with salsa, light sour cream, cilantro. YUMMMM.

Day 5 -My favorite sweet/spicy sweet potatoes, roasted asparagus, chicken breast with a Teriyaki sauce I threw together with some other spices.

Day 6 - A campus icon being demolished.

Day 7 - Snow. More snow. Ugh!

Day 8 - A day out with my friends.

That's it for this week. Hopefully, there won't be any more snow. I am so over winter and ready to get on my Harley. A Victorian Holiday

This little communities' celebration was a joy to watch and participate in for me and Jess. They close off this lovely brick street. A crowd follows carolers. As they sign and move up and down the street, buildings and store fronts light up. It's magical. Once the structures were lit they gathered to light the tree. Here's my friend Jess standing in front of it.

Scooter Excursion 2010

Yep, that's me and my scooter. Packed up. Ready to hit the road. Telling my hubby, "I love you."

Here I am waving. Hi everybody! Having a great time. Wish you were here.

You can barely read it. N O R T H! In case you lost your land nav and need help orienting yourself. We're at 1312 feet above sea level.

My riding buddy, Jess. She bought her Sportster in March. We're lovin the ride and the scenery.

Our first resting place. It was so a 1950s, Route 66 kinda place. The owners were super sweet folks. We ended up staying here two nights. They arranged for our float trip on the Current River. Gave us the down low on places to eat (and not eat) in town.

Here's me.....helping pay my motel bill. lol. Not really. Was just helping the owners and killing some time. I get up so stinkin early. I knew we would use the pool later and cleaning it just seemed the right thing to do. :)

Big Springs. This place was amazing. It's one of the largest springs in the state, and one of the largest in the world. On an average day, some 278 million gallons of water gush forth from subterranean passages, swelling the nearby Current River. Experiments in which harmless dye is placed into the ground have shown that water travels from as far as 45 miles away through underground passages before coming to the surface at Big Spring. The trip took from 7 to 14 days.

Like all Ozark springs, Big Spring is busy dissolving away the walls of its underground passages. One researcher estimated that about 175 tons of calcium carbonate rock are carried away in solution by Big Spring's water every day! Over the course of a year, this is enough rock to produce a cavern 30 feet high by 50 feet wide and one mile in length.

We packed up and left shortly after these pics were taken. We headed west to Branson. Did not like Branson at all. The traffic was horrible. The heat index was 106. Can you say.....ugh? Sadly, that was also the end of our trip. Jess over heated her clutch and we had to be rescued. My knight in shining armor drove five hours to load our scooters in the trailer and pack us home. God love him!!! I did not take pictures of our rescue. Which I so should have done.

It was not the trip we expected, but we learned a lot. About ourselves. About our scooters. About traveling on scooters. About God's protective hand being on us.

November 1, 2009 - December 26, 2009 Weeks 45-52

I finally sat down to date and label the photos on my camera. There are LOTS of pictures. Since they're all labeled, I'm not going to narrate them.

This catches me up with only one week left of this project. I didn't want to bail on the pictures and I'm very thankful to have participated in this project. Thanks for sticking with me. Enjoy the show.

Weeks I've Missed

The entire month of November came and went with out a single post of pictures. I have been so busy with getting unpacked, the kitchen remodeled, work, and classwork, that I've haven't had the time it takes to post photos to the blog. They are on my camera and I'll probably do a "Reader's Digest Condensed" version just to get them posted.

My class was overwhelming with seven HUGE projects/papers. My research paper is finally finished and ready to print. I'm working on my philosophy and reflection paper, and my final presentation is ready. These are all due this Saturday....Dec. 5.

Then, the following day, Dec. 6, I fly out to Vegas for a conference and will be back late on the 9th. I'll be off the 10th and 11th and am hoping to get caught up then.

I didn't want to just bail on the project.....I just haven't had the time it takes to get the pictures posted. Thanks for sticking with me.

October 25 - 31, 2009 Week 44

Can you believe it? I'm actually getting these up on Saturday. It's been a crazy busy day. I started class today, worked on a project that's due tomorrow, made this awesome Cajun chicken dish that Katherine posted, and now I'm getting my pictures posted for Project 365.

My week started with a trip to St Louis to visit my friend Jess. We attended an event at the Pottery Barn then hopped over to St Charles for lunch and sightseeing. The fall colors were absolutely gorgeous.

Monday and Tuesday my new kitchen cabinets were installed along with the new counter top.

On my walk around campus on Wednesday, I ran across these green things. Not sure what they are but their color and texture fascinated me. I took a few shots of these and this is the one I like best.

Thursday the new appliances were delivered.

Friday, we had a new dining room set delivered along with a bed for one of the upstairs bedrooms. We ordered a queen without even measuring or thinking that it wouldn't fit. Silly us. The mattress went up ok because they were able to bend it to make it through the opening. The box spring was another story. My hubby cut the box spring, bent it, and we shoved it up the stairs. ahahaha Another laugh for our memories. He put it back together and you can't tell he took a saw to it. :)

On my drive home today, Saturday, after class and grocery shopping, I passed by this fountain. I drive by it everyday. But today, the sun was hitting it just right and the water drops and sprays just seemed to sparkle. I went around the block to get the shot.

October 11 - 24, 2009, Weeks 42 and 43

Y-A-Y! Internet service is back and so am I!

There's been a lot of painting, painting, and more painting. Even the fly got painted. Not really sure how that happened, but the poor thing couldn't see to fly. ahahaha Is it wrong of me to laugh at its misfortune? Can't help it....it was funny.

The hubby backed into a painted wall and ended up with a skunk stripe. More laughs.

We struggled with fitting our previous shower curtain to the current shower. Our rod was too long so we retrieved the one we took off when we moved in. Now where are those shower hooks? Good grief! Can't find them....now what? My genius hubby asked for safety pins or straight pins. He pinned the curtain so we could shower. Genius!

Saturday the 17th, I took a break and met with some friends. This was our second annual reunion and it was wonderful to laugh and catch up.

Breast Cancer Awareness month......be sure to get your annual appointment scheduled. Mine is done for another year.

My wonderful husband left a bag of Dove chocolates along with this sweet note. Did you laugh? Cause I sure did! I smile just thinking of it.

This van was parked in front of my house one day. Central Air? Really? More laughs!

October 11 - 17, 2009 Week 42

Sadly, I have no pictures to share with you. Nope....not one; zilch; nadda; zero! Oh, not because I'm a slacker and didn't take any, nor because I'm too busy, or because I didn't take the time. There are no photos this week because I have no internet service at home. That's right. They shut me off Friday morning and won't have me reconnected until later this week.....maybe.

So all the pictures of moving furniture, stacks and piles of stuff everywhere, beautiful fall colors, gatherings with family and friends will have to wait.

It's been a crazy two weeks. We closed on the house and have been on the run ever since. The kitchen cabinets were torn out and the new ones are being made. We've patched walls and painted.....and painted.....and painted.

We've made precious memories along the way with each other and with the grand-boy.

There are some random pictures too. Newlyweds, flowers in the back yard, sunsets, homecoming, and subzero temperatures.

This past week was pretty uneventful. The most fun was squirrel hunting with friends. The children played on hay bales, climbed on tree branches, and got as muddy as they thought they could get by with.

Oh, and the Tin Man....he was about to be put up on a display and I couldn't resist taking his picture.

This week is mostly about Apple Festival one of the largest events in the region. It starts on Wednesday with window display judging and a Gospel sing; apple pie eating contest on Thursday; "Kiddie" parade Friday; Grand parade, blue grass music, marching band competition, and queen competition Saturday; and App-L-Ympics and Firefighters water fights on Sunday.

It's a great gathering of fun for family and friends. Enjoy the slide show.

It seems having a holiday the weekend I'm supposed to post my pictures always throws me off. The Labor Day weekend was so full of comings and goings that the days got away from me and before I knew it, it was Wednesday! By that time I decided to just wait and post both weeks at once. Sorry if this takes a while to load.

During this two week period, I went to the fair with my friend, Abby; saw a car show with the hubby and grand-boy; saw a guy riding a crazy tall bicycle; and celebrated my friend's wedding.

I'm enjoying the last days of summer for all too soon it will be fall and colder temperatures.

Lots of activities this past week starting with going to another baseball game and ending with riding over 200 miles with over 1400 of my closest friends. I'll post the article on my regular blog, This Day!

This week included another trip to the dentist to have a couple of old fillings replaced and a trip to the hospital for blood work and bone scans. Just routine stuff. I'll have all the results after a visit to the oncologist in a couple weeks.

The bug counters were quite a surprise. As I rounded the bend on the walking path, these two were sitting, facing the lake. I thought they were fishing. The closer I got, the more confused I was about what they were actually doing because there were no fishing poles. What? They're holding tablets and making notes. Sure enough, they're monitoring bug activity on flowers. I guess everybody has to do something. lol

Oh....and the photographer too is our local gendarme catching speeders. He was taking a picture of me so I thought I'd reciprocate.

August 16-22, 2009 Week 34

It's been another busy day and I wasn't even sure I would be able to get these posted. My day started with church, exchanging some clothes purchased yesterday for the grand-boy, a couple loads of laundry, a short 1 1/2 hour ride on my Harley, then meeting my friend, Chris, for a ball game. Whew! Are you tired? I sure am!

Most of this week's pictures revolve around my daily walks around campus lake, with a different capture each day. I started wearing a heart rate monitor a couple weeks ago to help me with my workouts. My target heart rate is 130 which I hit almost every day on my walks. It was really hot and humid the day I hit 140; and I was really pushin it. Plus a sunrise and a movie poster thrown in.

The grand-boy and I saw GI Joe on Saturday. It was better than I expected.

Welcome to my week's photos for my Project 365....taking a picture a day during 2009.

Sunday started the week attending a minor league baseball game with my SIL, niece, and the grand-boy. It was a warm day, but not unbearable. The home team won too. This is a pic taken before the first pitch with some of the team's mascots.

Monday was another stormy day....you can see it raining in the distance.

Tuesday -- this is how much is cost me to fill up my truck. Thankfully, I only have to do that every couple weeks.

Summer road work is in full swing everywhere. Isn't that true where you live too?

This pretty flower was captured on my daily walk around campus lake.

The Red Rubber Ball in the sky Friday morning was the inspiration for this post on my other blog. Also Friday, the hubby, the grand-boy and I went to the drag strip and watched motorcycles race.

Saturday at the farmers market, one of my friends was selling these beautiful flowers. At another stand they had local peaches and apples.

Welcome to another week of great photographs by the "world renown" SusanD. hahaha Hey, a girl can dream. hahaha Anywhooo, it was a pretty non-eventful week. Normal temperatures for August. You know.....hot, humid, hazy....air you-can-wear kind of weather.

Sunday was the purchase of some much needed (actually long overdue) new "running" shoes. Do you call them sneakers or tennies?

Monday - ok, seriously, this was just a little too creepy. Slugs were migrating across the sidewalk near my office building. Yuck! But they to make great fish bait.

Tuesday I was trying to beat the storm. After dashing to the grocery store and the local farmers market, I made it home minutes before the down pour.

Wednesday, I was fortunate enough to capture this guy on my daily walk.

Thursday morning's fog is a good indicator of how the temps are going to be for the day. Yep, the 3-Hs.

Friday - This is not the shot of the "surprise lilies" I had been wanting but was the best I could get before they disappear.

Saturday - on our way home yesterday, the sun was a beatiful orange ball. I was trying to get a good picture of it but it was setting faster than the speed limit would allow me to drive. So this is what I got.

It's August and almost time for fall semester to start! It has been an eventful week. Here are some of the photos I took.

Sunday - These guys were working hard and at it very early. I couldn't figure out what the noise was coming from the direction of the railroad tracks, so with camera in hand....went to investigate. They're placing rails and updating crossings.

Monday - I've taken a photo of this artwork before, but it looks so different in the summer with all the follage.

Tuesday - When I saw this fella standing by the edge of the road, I immediately stopped to take his picture. He was having no part of that and bolted into the woods. This is all I got of him.

Wednesday - The sunset was gorgeous as I traveled home from taking my final! What a beautiful way to end the semester.

Thursday - This beautiful fountain is a campus icon. I took several photos of it from different angles and liked this one best.

Friday - When I saw this car in the dumpster, I asked my hubby to stop so I could take a picture of it for my picture of the day. This is how the car dealers in our area are promoting the "stimulus." Too bad it ran out of money in four days....and it was supposed to last four months. Duh!

Saturday - We have a low, brick flower box right next to the driveway at the house we're renting. As my husband whipped into the driveway, he hit the corner of that flower box and blew out the left front tire. He had to call in a personal day at work to get the tire replaced cause he didn't want to take the other vehicle and leave me w/o transportation. This is him taking the tire off. You can see the gash right next to his knee.

Week 30??!!?!?! Wow! Here's my pictures for this past week.

Last weekend my friend, Laynn and I went to Memphis to see our friend Barbie. This is our parting shot as we're pulling out of her driveway. That was such a fun time. You can go here to see some of the other photos.

I took the sunset shot on my way home from class. Only two more class meetings. Y-A-Y!

The dragonfly and Bluebird were taken on my walks around campus.

Thursday, I finally made it poolside. It was wonderful.

This is my sister-in-law's dog, Rex. He's a sweetie.

Yesterday, my friends, Jess and Chris, and I went to one of the local wineries. We had a great time.

Once again, flowers dominate the photos of the week. As you can see in two of the pics, bees are busy pollinating and collecting.

Wednesday was a trip to the dentist's office to replace some old fillings.

Friday, Laynn, Ozzy, and I headed to Memphis for the weekend. Isn't he sooo cute? He's a boxer. He was really good on the trip.

Another busy week for me....what about you? Summer vacation, Vacation Bible School, days poolside, family reunions....the list of summer events is endless.

This week the weather was gorgeous....sunny every day but not too humid. I rode my motorcycle every day: to work, to class, to shop, to meetings. I love it.

Monday, July 6, the ride to work was very foggy. This picture was taken from the parking lot.

Thursday, July 9 during my daily walk I happened on this gorgeous butterfly. Can you see it's white legs and orange antenna? Absolutely breathtaking.

Friday evening we enjoyed dinner with friends at a local winery. The meal was delicious and company outstanding.

Saturday one of our dear friends exchanged vows and began their new life as husband and wife. It was a beautiful ceremony. I got to see several friends I hadn't seen in months. It was a great time.

Sorry to have gotten behind again. I know it takes longer for two weeks worth of photos to load, but it just seems more difficult during the summer to post on schedule.

Flowers again dominate the pictures. They are easy to photograph and abundant. Studying and classroom time also dominate my time and photographs.

The photo on the 23rd is the remnant of the day I got my hubby's car stuck in the mud. It's easy to see that I had help getting out of this mess.

A gal I worked with several years ago retired at the end of June. Here's a picture of her at the retirement. One of these day, I'll be retiring.

We went for another ride with "the Rowdy Crowd." One of the group thanked us for being with them. She said the group is better behaved when we are around.

Yesterday, I was cleaning my bike with the garage door open and the music blastin. I'd been out there for over an hour when I looked up to this fella watching me. I couldn't pass up this picture of the day.

The calendar year is half over and so is summer. We're on the downward side of 2009. It will be exciting to see where God takes us the rest of this year.

From rain and threatening skies to hot and muggy "air you can wear," the week was a strange mix of weather. Trying to get my "picture of the day" became challenging. It's difficult to stand out in the rain and take pictures. So Wednesday, I thought I'd drive out into the countryside for a change of scenery. I decided to turn around but the ground was not as solid as it looked. I got my husband's car stuck in the mud. I became the picture of the day. Oh my! I was so intent on getting it out of the mess that the thought of taking the picture right then totally escaped me. I did manage to get a shot of the muddy car before I washed it.

There are three photos from the 19th. My hubby and I went on a ride with about 25 other people. It was smokin hot and we rode about 300 miles. That was the longest ride in one day for me and I was totally exhausted. I like the bunny ears picture the best. How funny.....two old school bikers joking around with each other.

Week 24....WOW! Can you believe it? 2009 is almost half over. It's been quite a party for me so far. How about you?

This week started out with a day at the winery with friends. We celebrated my birthday which was last month, and Chris' birthday which was this week. Live music, great friends, and good wine is a fun way to spend the day.

Monday was the start of summer class and I was up at the crack of dawn.

Tuesday and Wednesday were flowers taken on my walk around campus.

Thursday, we moved the last of my daughter's things out of her old house.

Friday was a drive out by the lake.

Saturday I sent to St. Louis and visited with one of my best pals. We went to a food and art fair where this girl was doing a belly dance with swords on her head.

An eventful week that started out with the end of a fabulous weekend in Nashville, TN. If you haven't seen last week's photos yet, be sure to scroll down and see some of the other pictures from my trip to Nashville. The last stop on our whirlwind tour was the Belle Meade Plantation which represents agricultural and Thoroughbred breeding success without equal in the American south. Every Kentucky Derby entrant in this year's and each of the previous several years can trace their bloodlines back to the Belle Meade Plantation's breeding stock.

The week ended with lots of time in the saddle of my iron horse. Friday, friends, my hubby, and I rode our scooters to St. Louis and had lunch at the Cheesecake Factory. Saturday was the monthly Christian Motorcyclists Association meeting and more time on my scooter.

This past week was full of activities. Hope you enjoy this week's pictures.

Sunday, May 24 - I just had to get my pantry organized. Hoping to find a house to buy I chose to leave my pantry in boxes. Did you ever play "Concentration?" That's what it was like searching for a can of black beans......now which box were those in? Nope, not that one. Nope, not that one either. Ughhh. Thanks to my blog peep, Jessica at Called to Serve, my pantry is organized. Each box is numbered, all items are listed with their quantities. It's beautiful. Ok. Maybe not beautiful, but it sure has saved me a lot of time and frustration. Monday was Memorial Day. The sun was rising as I passed this cemetery and thought it would make a good photo of the day.

Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday's photos are pics I took on my walks on campus. The weather cooperated so I could get out of the office during lunch.

Friday, I headed to Nashville, TN. My cousins and aunt drove in from Charlotte, NC and we had a fun weekend. We crammed in as much as we could in our short time together. Friday we went downtown. There is so much to see, it was difficult to pic just one photo.

Saturday, one of our tours was the Music City Hall of Fame & Museum. This is one of several walls full of gold and platinum records.

Yes, the last time I posted I was so proud of the fact that pictures were being posted on time. Then at the next week's posting the Storm of the Century hit my area. After that it was a full week of no electricity and another week getting things back to normal.

I took LOTS of pictures of storm damage, and none of them do the devastation justice. I'll put up a separate slide show of some of the better ones in the next week or so. Yet, even amidst the storm damage, God's beauty can be seen.

Can you believe it??? I'm actually getting these posted on time. hahahaha Guess that's cause the pace has slowed down a little.

The week started out finishing up the weekend with one of my favorite annual events...the Blessing of the Bikes. You get to see first hand the amazing power of God's grace. At Blessing of the Bikes, grown men, donned in leathers, tattoos, scruffy beards, and biker club colors with heads bowed hold hands in prayer.

This week started with a celebration of our 6th Anniversary. I brought his gift home with me from my recent trip. While I was in Chicago, I went downtown to Ghirardelli's and picked up his favorite.....chocolate with almonds. He loved it (really? what's not to love?). The gift he choose for me was the super cute scooter riders. They are so precious....and they kinda look like us. lol Plus, he got me a piece of Ghirardelli chocolate too. Great minds and all that!

Ok....there's a story behind the stretcher picture. I've been trying to stay on track with the 30 x 5 challenge Linda @ 2nd Cup of Coffee put out there. (If you're not familiar with the challenge or Linda....click on the link and visit with her. You won't be disappointed.) The previous week I didn't do so great, so rather than take the elevator to the fourth floor for my doctor appointment, I decided to climb the stairs. When I arrived at the top of the stairs.....staring at me was the stretcher. I couldn't help but laugh cause I was seriously out of breath.

The rest are pretty self explanatory. I don't know what I'm going to do when nothing is blooming. Guess I'll have to get more creative. Enjoy the slide show.

Project 365, April 5 - 18, 2009, Weeks 15 and 16

I'm finally getting caught up on my photos. It's been a crazy two weeks with moving into the rental house, unpacking the necessities, problems with utilities not working (plumbing, phone lines, outlets), closing on the house, a conference in Chicago. Not all of this is recorded in pictures. The plumbing problems I've been documenting with photos, but they're not very exciting.

Each picture is labeled. There's one in particular that is one of those....picture speaks a thousand words. The "Hot Spot" was a local after-hours night club that was plagued with all the problems associated with that type of place. One night....it literally was the hot spot because it was up in flames! hahahahaha

On my walk around campus, there were two barred owls being chased by a couple of crows. I tried to catch them in flight, but each of those pics was blurry.

Big John is a local grocery store icon. He's gynormous.

I decided not to plant any flowers this spring since we were moving.....but these dandelions came up in my planter as volunteers.

From my hotel room, when looking south I could see the Sears Tower. When looking north, I could see the lake. Great views!

I was standing on the rear platform of the train for the last photo. It was a long ride home but being out in the fresh air sure helped.

Hopefully, there will be no further technical difficulties and I'll be back on schedule for posting my pictures. Have a great weeks.

Technical Difficulties

Just when you think everything is functioning within its operating parameters.....you are proven WRONG! Yep, the phone company has my new number up and running. Yep, the DSL people tell me that's available too. Then why is it my laptop won't connect to the internet? We're still trying to figure that one out.

As soon as these technical difficulties are resolved, week 15's photos will be posted. They're on the laptop, but I can't get them uploaded. I apologize for the delay.

The weather this week was much nicer and I was able to walk on my lunch hour most days. I sure need these walks to help relieve some of the stress from packing and moving. I think I met myself coming and going this week. Packing, studying, writing a paper, studying for a mid-term, and working. These are my seven photos of the week.

Sunday, we were near our national forest park where this HUGE cross is located. It's beautiful. This is where the CMA's hold their annual Blessing of the Bikes.

There are plenty of nature shots, more flowers, and one random picture taken at the local Harley dealership. It's quite a hodgepodge. Hope you enjoy them.

The postings this week are a variety of outdoors and indoors. The weather has allowed for walking almost every day which definitely allows for a wider range of subjects.

The flowering trees are rapidly giving way to green leaves, but I love these late bloomers.

We're ten weeks into 2009! So much has already happened, yet there is so much to look forward to this year. Do you have plans for vacation? Family gatherings? Me? I'm looking forward to all that and more. It's so exciting to see where God will lead each of us this year. Thankfully, we'll be documenting it in photographs.

Last Sunday, Hubby and I went for a drive and as we crossed some railroad tracks saw this train. It's actually further away....I zoomed in on it. :)

Monday evening, I caught the sun just as it was setting. I'm hoping to get better at these.

Tuesday, 3/3 - This is the anniversary clock my grandmother gave me. So, I call it my "Grandmother" clock.

It's getting warm enough to walk around campus most days. Wednesday, 3/4, I took this photo of the music building.

Thursday, 3/5 - My kitchen

3/6, Friday - Art on campus.

Saturday was a full day. My hubby and I went for a ride with some friends. That's my bike, the burgundy and cream, right up front. -- Later that evening, our CMA group had it's monthly meeting.

Yes. It's been two weeks since I last posted photos. The last weekend I was supposed to put up my photos, it was crazy busy. Friends were in town. My husband was off. Then I got sick. Not just a passing cold sick.....I was flu sick. I didn't go to work for four days! Today is the first day in a week I actually feel like myself. I'm not completely over it yet....but I'm definitely on the mend. Thanks to everyone for their prayers.

Here are the photos I've taken the last two weeks. Needless to say, those days I was lying on the couch....no photos.

February 8 - Sunday I made chicken pot pie. It was delicious.

Monday, Hubby and I drove about an hour south of us. The storm damage from the week before was incredible. I think there are still places without power because power poles were snapped off just like the tops of these trees.

Tuesday, Feb 10 - Have you tried these??? They are wonderful. The fudge bars and ice cream sandwiches are great too. Skinny Cow!

Wednesday Feb 11 - I ran across this tree stump turned sculpture.

Thursday, Feb 12 - There were a couple dozen ducks and geese hanging out at the city park, so I snapped their picture.

Friday, Feb 13 - The gift I left for my hubby. Yes. It's the day before....but by the time he gets home after midnight....it will be Valentine's Day.

February 14 -- Valentines Day! What a surprise to have beautiful roses, bottle of wine, and a card from my sweetie. -- While he was at work, I spent the day w/friends at the basketball game.

February! Can.you.believe.it? It's a good thing I have proof of that, because it just doesn't seem possible that January has come and gone already. It is getting more difficult to take a picture every day. My life is just not that exciting and, well, when you are by yourself most of the time and only travel to and from work....the scenery doesn't change much. WOW. That was a long sentence.

So, here's the picture sequence:

Last Sunday was February 1st. My wonderful hubby and I were on our way to WalMart when we saw a flock of turkey. He was kind enough to turn around so I could snap their picture. But when we slowed down, they took off running. Bunch of chickens is you ask me! -- I definitely didn't get the shot I was going for, so this is what I got. Turkeys....high tailing it. lol

Monday is usually the day our grandson, Jacob, spends time with us. I generally take a ton of pictures when he's around. He's just so darn cute and animated. This is a great picture of him and Pappy. Jacob looks like he's trying to snatch something w/o Pappy catching him.

Tuesday, Feb 3. I was way overdue on my pedicure. This is the job done.....I was watching the paint dry. :)

February 4. I'm starting on my HUGE final project that is due on the 28th. This is where I always start. Laying out all the elements I need, then filling them in as I go along.

Thursday, February 5 was our third Relay for Life planning meeting. We hold this event the last weekend in April so there will be plenty of photo opportunities for this project.

Friday, my friend Erin and I made fajitas. They were VERY tasty! Erin lives four hours away so we don't get to see each other often. She's in town for an event we've been planning for a couple months. One of the local wineries is having a spring kick off tomorrow. Our friend, Jess, will be in town too.

Saturday, February 7. Me, Erin, and Jess at the winery. Great music, great food, awesome friends. What could be better?

I am a day late getting these photos posted. I was ready to upload them last night when my camera was "battery exhausted." That's how I felt too after sitting in class all weekend.

So here's the photos of the week.

The first one is of my future son-in-law. He and my step-daughter are getting married May 30. (Did I mention that's only four months away?)

Jan 26 was the beginning of the HUGE ice and snow storm that came thru the middle of the country. We had freezing rain, sleet, and snow off and on for about 36 hours. Here's what the weather map looked like for two days.

Jan 27 The aftermath of all that precip.

Jan 28 My hubby using one of his many tools for ice removal. The funniest thing? He pounded on that truck and couldn't get in so he went around to the passenger side where he pounded some more.....only to figure out.....the truck was locked. ahahahahaha! Oh yeah. I couldn't wait to tell that story on him.

Jan 29, Thursday, I had to go back to work. The roads, parking lots, and sidewalks were terrible to maneuver on with all the ice.

Jan 30, A researcher was visiting from China. She had been here a full year and had to go back home. The other people in the picture are graduate assistants, professors, and researchers.

Jan 31, Saturday....back to class weekend. There were low hanging clouds. The sun was shining thru and I was trying to capture it.

I totally loved the weather this past week. It was warm enough to ride my scooter (Harley) two days in a row. Sadly, the "heat wave" did not last long. Two days of high 50s followed by two days of high 20s. brrrrr We're expecting freezing rain tomorrow. Maybe there will be photo ops from it.

So this week, improving my physical condition is in order. I've been very slack in exercising so I'm back at it. I started to add a 30 minute resistance routine on Sunday, Jan 18. My goal is at least twice each week.

Monday, my honey and I played a game of Sorry. I let him win. :)

January 20, Tuesday, I tried to capture this beautiful fountain at the local community college. I did not come close to doing it justice.

Wednesday, January 21 I went to our Blue Knights Motorcycle Club monthly meeting and forgot to take my camera. ugh. So I took a picture of the back of my vest that carries our club's "colors."

Thursday was a warm day. OK. Maybe not warm but warmer than it had been so I put on my leathers and headed out to split the wind. These self-portraits are difficult to judge.

Friday, January 23 my hubby took the day off and this is him before we take off on our scooters. I've added the photo he took of me, too.

Yesterday, I went with my step-daughter and her future MIL and SIL to shop for wedding dresses. This is one of several she tried.

I'm trying a different photo service. The RockYou site has a tendency to drop photos or shuffle the order. We'll see how this one does.

Wow. Another week has flown by with a flurry of activities.

Last Sunday, Jan 11, my wonderful husband installed a new faucet at the kitchen sink. He got me one that has a high neck that gives more clearance. One of these days I'll take a pic of the new faucet, but I couldn't resist taking a picture of him doing the installation.

Monday, Jan 12 Jim bought a new tool box and is putting the wheels on after uncrating it.

Jan 13, Tuesday My beautiful niece, Sara, writing in the birthday card for her mom.

Wednesday, Jan 14 I baked a pineapple upside down cake for the maintenance guys who fixed the heat at my office. It was VERY delicious and they were very appreciative.

Thursday, Jan 15 was a crisp, windy day. This flag was snapping as the wind whipped it.

Friday, Jan 16 Some of my rowdy CMA (Christian Motorcyclists Association) buddies and I manned the phones for TCT at their telethon.

Yesterday, Jan 17 started my first weekend class of the semester.

I have a duplicate day this week. These pics start with last Sunday and go through Saturday (yesterday). This schedule will work better for me with taking and uploading the photos.

Last Sunday, Jan 4 is getting ready for the work week. Yes. I'm ironing. Probably one of my least favorite things to do. I sure am glad the USAF trained Jim to iron his own clothes. lol

Jan 5 - Monday -- My grandson, Jacob. Isn't he about the most precious thing ever? He's playing with a Star Wars space ship we gave him for Christmas.

Tuesday, Jan 6 - I surprised my hubby with a card and Hershey's w/almonds. His favorite.

Wednesday, Jan 7 - My Harley getting some work done to it.

Jan 8 - Thursday - The camera put on the timer feature and I jumped into the picture.

Jan 9 - Friday - I went to a sport bike event for our Christian Motorcyclists Association and helped set up for the event.

Saturday - Jan 10 - Driving across the bridge @ Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Yes. I'm driving and taking the picture. :)

This is my first experiment with my new camera. I thought I should start with a picture of the photographer. Yep, that's me. The figurine is depicting the story of Jesus and the Woman at the Well. The guy in the slippers.......actually wore these out in public to an event. And the last photo is of some motorcycles that were at our Christian Motorcyclists Association meeting last night.

Getting Started on Project 365

Okay, so I've been wanting to do this project since I first happened on it a couple months ago. Please join me as I discover life from a different angle. My goal is to be a better photographer as I take one photo each day during 2009. I want to record God's blessings and His creation.

Postings may seem random at first, but will be more regular as I get more proficient at using my new camera and downloading the pictures. This will take some time, but I'm hopeful the result will be worth the effort. The goal is to load the week's photos every Sunday.
